About OH-KY-IN

All About Us

Born in 1960 as the Tri-State VHF Radio Society, then the OH-KY-IN VHF Radio Society, the OH-KY-IN Amateur Radio Society has been one of the leading amateur radio organizations in the Cincinnati, Ohio, area for most of it’s 60-plus year history.   And while VHF (mostly 6m) operations were its original interest, today, OH-KY-IN is active on ALL the amateur bands, and serves a diverse membership interest.   From operating in the annual Field Day event to participating in ARDF events around the globe, OH-KY-IN members have made the K8SCH callsign recognized throughout the amateur radio world.

Faithful to its founding, the club currently maintains three VHF (2m) repeaters and a UHF (440) repeater that are available for use to any amateur radio operator who wishes to use them (please use PL 123Hz for access).

And faithful to its ARRL charter as a Special Service Club, OH-KY-IN sponsors amateur radio license classes, proctors amateur license examination sessions, presents periodic radio-oriented activities such as our monthly “fox hunt” (radio direction finding) events, and annually assists other public service organizations with their communications needs, such as Cheviot’s Harvet Home Festival Parade and the Flying Pig Marathon.   No matter the amateur radio interest, OH-KY-IN members are involved.

So whether you are a new ham, a more experienced one, or perhaps interested in learning how to become a ham, the OH-KY-IN Amateur Radio Society has something for you.   Please stop by one of our monthly meetings or our many events… check us out!   Visitors are ALWAYS welcome.
