Classes
OH-KY-IN Amateur Radio Society and the Queen City Emergency Net will be offering classes this fall 2024 for technician, general and extra amateur radio licenses. The classes will be in person at the American Red Cross, 2111 Dana Ave., Cincinnati OH 45207. The classes will wrap up with a licensing exam session at 10:00 AM ET on Saturday, November 2nd, also at the American Red Cross.
Due to the nature of the material, the Amateur Extra class will run for seven weeks starting on Monday, September 16th at 7:00 PM and will run until October 28th.
The Technician and General classes will start two weeks later on Monday, September 30th at 7:00 PM and will run for six weeks, also ending on October 28th.
Instruction will be given for all license levels: Technician (entry level), General (upgrade) and for Amateur Extra (upgrade).
The study material will be based on the ARRL manuals. For those wanting their initial ham radio license, the Technician Class license, the textbook is the The ARRL Ham Radio License Manual, Fifth Edition. For those wishing to upgrade their license to General Class, the textbook is The ARRL General Class License Manual, Tenth Edition. For those desiring to upgrade to Amateur Extra, the textbook is The ARRL Extra Class License Manual, Thirteenth Edition. Each of these books is available from the ARRL bookstore. They are also available on Amazon and from other book sellers.
The cost is free except for the book, which should be purchased by the individual student.
